Training for Advocates Working with Trafficking Survivors

NOVA’s Human Trafficking Response Academy is an introductory to intermediate level training course designed for victim advocates and allied professionals working with survivors of human trafficking. This training academy includes topics pertaining to both forms of human trafficking: sex trafficking and labor trafficking (forced labor). Through engaging online training and access to dynamic, experienced instructors, those who complete this course will feel better equipped to respond and support trafficking survivors.

While there is no prerequisite for this course, those enrolling should already have reasonable foundational knowledge in victim services.

Who Attends?

This is a foundational training dedicated to human trafficking response services. There is no prerequisite to take the course, however, those enrolling should already have reasonable foundational knowledge in victim services.

Dates

The 2025 Human Trafficking Response Academy will be offered virtually over 4 days from Monday, February 10th through Thursday, February 13th, 2025. 

  • Monday, February 10th: 10:00am – 5:00pm ET
  • Tuesday, February 11th: 10:00am – 5:30pm ET
  • Wednesday, February 12th: 10:00am – 5:30pm ET
  • Thursday, February 13th: 10:00am – 4:30pm ET

 

Multiple breaks will be provided throughout each day. 

Cost

NOVA Member Rate: $350/person.

Non-Member Rate: $400/person.

How to Apply

Registration opens Wednesday, October 16th and will close at 4:00pm ET on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 or earlier if capacity is reached.

All registrations must be fully paid by Thursday, January 9th, 2025.

Refund Policy: A full refund, less the $75 processing fee, may be requested until Thursday, January 16th. On and after January 17th, 2025, there will be no refunds unless the training has been canceled by NOVA.

The course is offered through a Learning Management System (LMS) that connects to Zoom. While access to camera/video and microphone aren’t required, it is highly encouraged.

We understand that life happens, and that’s okay! HTRA’s make-up policy ensures that all class sessions will be recorded and participants will have the opportunity to make up two missed sessions in order to receive a certificate for completion. Every HTRA class allows participants the unique opportunity to engage with subject matter experts in real time, which makes attendance a critical part to maximize learning.
