NOVA’s Campus Advocacy Program provides trauma-informed, inclusive, and culturally responsive training and technical assistance to campus victim assistance professionals, staff, and community partners to address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS) in higher education.

Campus advocacy work doesn’t stop, and too often, advocates do it alone: one person handling a caseload built for three, with little time to step back and connect with others who understand.
The Virtual Campus Advocacy Summit is a national gathering built for that reality. Advocates from across the country will come together online to share real strategies, not theory. They will discuss how to hold survivor-centered response in DVSAS cases (domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking), build institutional partnerships that hold up under pressure, and sustain themselves in demanding work.
This isn’t a lecture series. Participants will gain actionable tools, new ideas, and a stronger national network through interactive sessions and open discussions.

The Culturally-Specific area supports campuses in elevating and addressing the intersections of culture, trauma, racial and ethnic equity, language justice, and accessibility, allowing campus-based professionals and advocates to help student survivors feel seen, supported, and connected to their campus community.
The Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Team area provides customized training, resources, and support to institutions of higher education dedicated to building coordinated community responses to prevent and respond to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS) on college campuses. We help teams build, strengthen, and sustain their capacity to create positive outcomes and systems changes.

Technical Assistance for OVW Campus Program Grantees
NOVA is proud to serve as a Technical Assistance Provider for the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Program. In this role, we provide training and technical assistance to institutions of higher education funded by OVW for the areas of Coordinated Community Response Teams (CCRTs) to address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS) on college campuses.
Training and technical assistance is tailored to be responsive to each institution’s culture, resources and areas of need. Our team has vast experience in the field and works closely with consultants and partner organizations with campus expertise.
- Developing Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Teams that are inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed;
- Cultivating collaborative campus and community partnerships and meaningful inclusion in CCR initiatives;
- Engaging administrative leadership to embed CCR initiatives into the institution;
- Best practices around:
- CCR Team structure and process, including linkage with other existing multidisciplinary teams;
- CCR Team composition and leadership, including student involvement in the CCR Team;
- Internal and external memoranda of understanding;
- Conflict resolution strategies; CCR Team policies and communications strategies, and effective meeting facilitation; and
- Strategies for sustainability.
